As a Drainage Design Engineer, you will apply hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles to the planning, analysis, and design of drainage infrastructure for transportation and roadway improvement projects. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute to the development of innovative and cost-effective stormwater management solutions, including storm sewer systems, culverts, detention and retention facilities, roadway drainage networks, and hydraulic structures. In this role, you will perform drainage analyses, prepare engineering calculations, develop construction plans and technical reports, and support the evaluation of flood risks, watershed impacts, and regulatory compliance requirements. You will utilize industry-standard design software and modeling tools to assess system performance and ensure designs meet applicable federal, state, and local transportation agency standards, drainage criteria, and environmental regulations. As your experience grows, you will take increasing ownership of project deliverables, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, assist in resolving complex engineering challenges, and contribute to project planning and execution efforts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen technical expertise, develop sound engineering judgment, and build a successful career in transportation drainage design while delivering infrastructure solutions that enhance public safety, mobility, and system resilience.
