About The Position

The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) seeks an aspiring drafting and mapping analyst to develop engineering project plans for capital improvement projects. This position works closely with the engineering staff supporting capital projects and with operations staff to support their various work plans. Responsibilities include developing and updating engineering plans using computer-aided design (CAD) systems; producing maps in GIS to aid in the planning and analysis of the capital improvement program; and assisting departments with various mapping requests. The ideal candidate will have strong technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with experience in CAD, GIS, drafting, mapping, engineering plans, or related technical fields preferred. AWWD’s 45-square mile service area covers portions of multiple jurisdictions and is a critical link between the county’s major water source, direct customers, and a group of retail water providers. The District also collects sewage from multiple jurisdictions and operates a wastewater treatment plant. A desire to contribute toward the development and renewal of this critical public service is foundational to a career at AWWD. The District is seeking one full-time team member. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to assist engineers in clearly depicting improvements in CAD. Knowledge of and experience with water and wastewater capital project development is highly desirable. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and will regularly interact with a wide variety of our engineers, operators, and construction staff. Requirements

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
An associate’s degree or graduation from a technical school in geography, cartography, GIS, engineering, planning, construction management, or related field, and four years of experience in mapping, surveying, civil engineering, planning or other related field.
Possess and maintain a Valid Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older.
