About The Position

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Drafter in Hoover, Alabama. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing support to the Sales Department and U.S. Pipe Customers by providing professional specification review, material take-offs, advice, training, and quotation entry. This role involves supporting sales and customers by providing professional specification and contract drawing review, developing product layout design drawings with accurate construction bills of material for release of manufactured products, value engineering, and providing advice and training. Requirements

Minimum 2-year Technical Degree, Drafting Certification, or equivalent experience.
2 - 4 years related work experience preferred.
Civil 3D, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Revit, or other 3D software experience.
Experience in the construction field or civil engineering field, such as an estimator, draftsman, designer etc.
Great mathematical skills.
Ability to interpret contract drawings and review project specifications accurately.
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to work together with others effectively in team-oriented processes.
Eager to learn and grow within our company.

Responsibilities

Review plans, specifications, and sales quotation for preparing drawings.
Produce layout drawings with complete bill of material required to build project to customers for approval.
Coordinate with customers to revise/update/value-engineer the construction bill of material until final approval for manufacture.
Use sales quotation and final negotiated sales price basis to re-price project BOM.
Release material for manufacturing with Project Managers/ISR’s as necessary.
Provide backup support for Estimator, Project Manager, Inside Sales Reps, etc. when required by Managers.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by Managers.
