Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Four (4) years relevant experience related to shop and field engineering processes associated with mechanical, structural, electrical or architectural design.
Must demonstrate proficient experience and knowledge in operating and utilization of AutoCAD 2D
Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire.
Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbal and written.
Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Proficient in the use of standard MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of various office equipment.
Demonstrated ability to use resourcefulness in researching various documents and databases is required, as well as gathering various types of information or other resources.
Ability to coordinate and handle multiple activities.

Nice To Haves

Certification of two (2) years training from vocational training school or two (2) years of college with courses relevant to drafting or engineering principles preferred.
experience in AutoCad 3D, BIM/Revit, Civil 3D, or Creo-parametric a plus.
Additional relevant education may be substituted for the required experience.
Familiarity with design, construction, and engineering terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares complete sets of drawings of Facility and Special Test Equipment to be fabricated from layouts or sketches. Several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings are required.
From information supplied by the design originator and from manuals, describes dimensions, tolerances, fits, fabrication techniques, and standard parts to use in fabricating the equipment and facilities.
From drafting standards and established practices, prepares civil and structural construction drawings, including but not limited to: navigation locks, bridges, culverts, levees, dikes and berms; prepares typical cross-sections, and land profiles; and delineates related topographical details as required.
From multi-discipline engineering designs, lays out plan, profile and detail appurtenances required; and notifies supervisor of conflicting details in design.
Prepares and revises detailed design drawings for such projects as the construction and installation of electrical, electronic equipment and plant wiring. Drawings typically include details of mountings, frames, guards, or other accessories; conduit layouts; or wiring diagrams indicating transformer sizes and conduit locations.
Draws base and elevation views, sections, and details of commercial and industrial structures; revises complete sets of site infrastructure and construction projects; or prepares block maps, indicating pipeline locations.
From marked-up prints, revises the original drawings of electrical, mechanical, civil and structural systems.
From sketches, generates a working drawing in adherence to the National CAD Standards.
Coordinates with and takes direction from Engineers and/or Senior Drafters.
