About The Position

The DPW Seasonal Equipment Operator/ Snowplow Driver assists the City of Glendale Department of Public Works with snow and ice removal along with other duties as assigned during the winter months approximately mid-November through mid-April on an as needed call in basis. Required works days can include weekdays, weeknights, weekends and holidays. The employee will be paid only for actual hours worked. Employee will receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Proficient in winter maintenance: ability to operate a pick up truck with a front V/straight mounted snow plow blade.
Must be age 18 or older
Must have a high school diploma, GED or HSED
Must possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.
Must be able to pass background check, drug test, and reference check.

Nice To Haves

CDL preferred but not required.
Experience with the operations of equipment required for winter street maintenance desired.
Minimum of one year of snow removal experience with a pick up truck V blade/straight blade plow truck and snow blower desired.

Responsibilities

Plowing alleyways, clearing cross walks, building walkways and other locations around the City as needed.
Response to snow and ice events within 1 hour of the call-in.
Routine servicing and light maintenance of equipment.
General vehicle maintenance knowledge.
Complete snow clearing activities including plowing alleyways, clearing cross walks, building walkways and other locations around the City as needed.
Work week days, evening, weekends, and holidays as directed.
Understand and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
Undertake assigned tasks in a respectful, safe, and efficient manner.
Perform all duties in conformance with the City of Glendale policies and adherence to state and federal safety polices and standards.
