About The Position

The Dozer Operator operates a crawler tractor with a bulldozer mounted in front of the chassis to level, distribute, and push earth or other materials. The role may also involve operating a ripper attachment to break up rock or other hard material, and using a push block to push load scrapers. The work is performed outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves strenuous physical activity. The operator must comply with safety policies and procedures, report unsafe activities, contribute to team goals, and provide leadership by example and by sharing knowledge and skills. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Less than a high school diploma and related construction experience.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities of a primarily productive or technical nature.

Responsibilities

• Start engines and operate machines using throttles, switches, levers, and pedals.
• Operate a crawler tractor with a bulldozer attachment to level, distribute, and push earth or other materials.
• May operate a ripper attachment to break up rock or other hard material.
• May use a push block on the front of the tractor to push load scrapers.
• Take actions to avoid hazards and obstructions, including utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
• May oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine.
• Make necessary equipment adjustments.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
