About The Position

This role is for a Summer 2026 Downhill Mountain Bike Instructor at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon. The position requires a professional, fun, and energetic individual with strong communication skills to teach Kids Mt Bike Camps to ages 8-15. Applicants must enjoy working with children of varying skill levels and be able to ride at an advanced level, comfortable with downhill terrain, jumps, and drops. A passion for Mt. Biking and the mountain environment is essential, as is the ability to work outdoors in all conditions. The role involves instructing guests according to Mt. Bachelor's and PMBIA's guiding principles, maintaining a safe and fun learning environment, and being knowledgeable and professional. Instructors must be able to ride and teach at an advanced level and contribute to a team passionate about perfecting service and techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be able to ride at an advanced level.
  • Comfortable with downhill terrain, jumps, and drops.
  • Must have a passion for Mt. Biking and the mountain environment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all conditions.
  • Must be able to remain outside in all weather conditions during lessons.
  • Must be able to work in a group environment.
  • Must have strong guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to ride advanced downhill terrain, including jumps and drops.
  • Bike maintenance experience.
  • Can remain outside in all conditions for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of being on a bike and wear protective equipment for the entire lesson.
  • Applicants must own their own riding equipment, including a full-faced helmet, elbow and knee pads.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Ability to shovel snow and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) or Professional Mountain Bike Instructors (PMBI) certification.
  • Background working with and organizing groups.
  • CPR and first aid certification.
  • Previous experience or coaching preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Mt. Biking to all ages.
  • Deliver exciting lessons to provide students with a positive and successful learning experience.
  • Display strong decision-making skills that allow for a safe learning environment.
  • Instruct guests in accordance with Mt. Bachelor’s and PMBIA’s guiding principles and training.
  • Maintain a safe and fun learning environment for students of all ages.
  • Assist guests using knowledge of the sport.
  • Ride and teach at an advanced level.
  • Share a passion for perfecting service and techniques.
  • Work in a group environment, both within the department and the mountain as a whole.
  • Develop a working partnership with guests through strong guest service and communication skills.
  • Take direction and instruction from lead personnel as needed.
  • Teach mountain bike maintenance and safety inspection to students.
  • Attend designated trainings to develop personal and professional riding and teaching skills.
