About The Position

This role is for a Summer 2026 Downhill Mountain Bike Instructor at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon. The position involves delivering memorable experiences and enhancing people's lives through mountain culture. Mt. Bachelor seeks passionate, positive, problem-solving individuals who enjoy working as a team. The role requires teaching Kids Mt Bike Camps to ages 8-15, enjoying working with children of varying skill levels, and being able to ride at an advanced level, including comfort with downhill terrain, jumps, and drops. A passion for Mt. Biking and the mountain environment is essential, as is the ability to work outdoors in all conditions. The position requires instructors to be able to work midweek through July and August, with schedule options of Monday through Friday or Monday through Wednesday. Some private lesson options are available any day of the week.

Requirements

  • Must be able to ride at an advanced level.
  • Comfortable with downhill terrain, jumps, and drops.
  • Must have a passion for Mt. Biking and the mountain environment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all conditions.
  • Ability to ride advanced downhill terrain, including jumps and drops, and have bike maintenance experience.
  • Can remain outside in all conditions for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of being on a bike and wear protective equipment for the entire lesson.
  • Applicants must own their own riding equipment. This includes a full-faced helmet. elbow and knee pads.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience or coaching preferred.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 18+
  • Must be able to work in a group environment, both within the department and the mountain as a whole.
  • Instructors must have strong guest service and communication skills to develop a working partnership with guests.
  • Take direction and instruction from lead personnel as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) or Professional Mountain Bike Instructors (PMBI) certification or background working with and organizing groups is a plus, as well as CPR and first aid.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Mt. Biking to all ages.
  • Deliver exciting lessons to provide students with a positive and successful learning experience.
  • Display strong decision-making skills that allow for a safe learning environment.
  • Instructors are responsible for the well-being of their students at all times during the lesson.
  • Teach mountain bike maintenance and safety inspection to students.
  • Attend designated trainings to develop personal and professional riding and teaching skills.
