About The Position

This SkillBridge internship is only open to currently serving active-duty U.S. military members who are projected to separate or retire within the next 12 months and must apply prior to entering their final 180 days of active duty. Command approval and SkillBridge authorization must be secured before the internship start date. This is not a civilian or student internship. Applicants must be Active-Duty U.S. military personnel eligible for DoD SkillBridge participation. SkillBridge internship opportunities depend on current availability, and new positions may be added based on program demand. Our 90–180 day internship program is guided by industry professionals who teach, coach, and mentor participants in applying the skills gained throughout the program. Interns receive hands-on training and career development while working under the close supervision of college staff. Possible Internship Opportunities with Polk State College include: Finance, Student Services, Student Financial Aid, Human Resources, Marketing and Communication, Athletics, Facilities Management, and IT/Network Management. Requirements

  • Must be a current active-duty U.S. service member within 365-180 days of separation or retirement.
  • Must meet all eligibility requirements of the DoD SkillBridge program and obtain command approval prior to start date.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism if needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.
  • Must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the College campus area (Winter Haven or surrounding area) for the duration of the program and beyond.
