About The Position

Pomelo Care is building a network of experienced birth and full-spectrum doulas to educate and guide expecting and new families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Doulas help improve birth outcomes by ensuring families feel supported and empowered. This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not a W-2 employment position; contractors are not eligible for employee benefits. Pomelo provides client matching, billing, administrative and technical support, and documentation support, while doulas choose when to make themselves available and may accept or decline opportunities. Pomelo does not guarantee a minimum number of matches or compensation. The role serves New Castle, Sussex, and Kent counties in Delaware, with virtual and in-person work.

Requirements

• Completed certification and training as a birth and/or full-spectrum doula.
• Experience working as a doula, with an in-depth understanding of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to connect with families from diverse backgrounds virtually and in person.
• Comfort using telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and electronic documentation systems.
• Availability for virtual and in-person work, including evenings and weekends.
• Located in or able to serve New Castle, Sussex, or Kent County, Delaware.
• Provide proof or verification of doula certification, an NPI number, Adult & Infant CPR/First Aid certification, and personal liability insurance.
• Complete a background screening and a 30-minute video call with someone from the recruitment team.

Responsibilities

• Educate and guide expecting and new families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
• Help families feel supported and empowered during pregnancy and birth.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation for visits and birth support.
• Follow applicable documentation, privacy, quality, and compliance standards for services conducted through Pomelo.
