Douglas Operator 2nd Shift
About The Position
This is a 2nd Shift Douglas Operator position at the Kraft Heinz facility in Cedar Rapids, IA. The facility operates 3 shifts and is a non-union environment with approximately 200 hourly staff members. It specializes in Food Service products, featuring 4 soup lines, 1 tub line, 18 kettles, 5 filling lines, and 4 packaging lines. The products include Frozen Soups and Macaroni & Cheese. The Cedar Rapids location has a rich history, originally starting as Ashby Soups in the mid-1980s, later becoming Quality Chef Foods before being acquired by Heinz and eventually merging into Kraft Heinz in 2015. The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area, known as the cultural corridor, offers a good quality of life with easy commutes, great schools, low crime rates, and a vibrant city atmosphere. This role requires thorough knowledge of the Tub Pack Department, including equipment like Douglas, Pearson, Wexxar, 3M Taper, Power Jack, HMI, SKU Reader, and Evolution Printer, to support continuous production flow. The operator will also identify quality concerns with packaging, print, labels, or cases, and back up the Tub tables.
Requirements
- Must be detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills
- Must ensure quality of products being packaged.
- Must have basic knowledge in equipment care and maintenance.
- Must be able to perform well under stress
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Must be able to work in a safe manner.
- Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures.
- Responsible for Q-RMP standards implementation as defined by the accountability list document.
- Employees will follow all safety protocols and perform their job responsibilities in a safe manner.

- Complete all required documentation / IQS Entries
- Quality (Verify product quality, dated codes, weight distribution, seal integrity, label verification, case quality)
- Safety (follow all required safe work practices – ie: PPE, JSA)
- Relieve Tub Table Operators
- Other duties as assigned.
