About The Position

The DOT Compliance Specialist is a key role responsible for ensuring adherence to DOT standards and regulations within the organization. This position works closely with Operations, HR, and Safety departments to ensure that all regulated drivers are fully compliant with DOT and other applicable laws, fostering harmonious working relations between the company, customers, and regulatory agencies. The DOT Compliance Specialist oversees Driver Qualification files, random drug and alcohol testing, and collaborates with external vendors including Third Party Administrators (TPAs), Medical Review Officers (MROs), Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs), and compliance vendors. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years’ experience in warehouse operations, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field.
  • Trade or technical school (Certificate or diploma) in an applicable field.

Responsibilities

  • DOT Compliance Oversight Ensure compliance with DOT standards and regulations, including driver qualifications, hours of service, vehicle inspections, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Stay current with changes in DOT regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  • Conduct training sessions and educational programs for drivers and operations staff to ensure awareness of DOT regulations, company policies, and best practices for compliance.
  • Ensure that all commercial and other motor vehicle drivers and the company are complying with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
  • Driver Qualification Files Oversee the maintenance of Driver Qualification files to ensure that all documentation, including licenses, medical certifications, and driving records, are up-to-date and in compliance with DOT requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with business units throughout the organization to help mitigate risk and design solutions to manage transportation compliance.
  • FMSCA Maintains and reconciles FMCSA accident logs to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
  • Oversees roadside inspection compliance and documentation in accordance with FMCSA standards.
  • Reviews FMCSA MCMIS reports. submits DataQs and challenges when appropriate to protect and maintain CSA safety ratings.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Manage all aspects of random drug and alcohol testing programs, including scheduling, coordination with external vendors, and documentation of test results.
  • Collaborate with Third Party Administrators (TPAs), Medical Review Officers (MROs), and Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs) to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate with external vendors, including TPAs, MROs, SAPs, and compliance vendors, to facilitate drug and alcohol testing, medical examinations, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements and regulatory requirements.
