About The Position

To provide high quality, professional and compassionate radiation therapy dosimetry work, under the direction of a leadership. The this position is thoroughly familiar with the physical and geometric characteristics of radiation equipment and has the training and expertise necessary to generate image-based computerized treatment plans based on protocols and methods established by the radiation oncologists and medical physicists. Administers quality control programs in conjunction with the physicist and radiation therapists in the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Physics related field
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Upon Hire
  • 5 years recent relevant experience
  • Ability to evaluate treatments plans for clinical value and acceptability in clinical situations
  • Ability to coordinate essential activities in workflow for radiation therapy treatments
  • Ability to follow instruction and documented procedures in performing tasks on the computer workstations in an accurate, safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans
  • Ability to communicate these aspects to the radiation oncologist for plan approval, and to the radiation therapist for plan implementation
  • Ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols
  • Mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry
  • Ability to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process
