About The Position

The Dosimetrist III provides high-quality, professional, and compassionate radiation therapy dosimetry work under the direction of leadership. This position requires thorough familiarity with the physical and geometric characteristics of radiation equipment, along with the training and expertise to generate image-based computerized treatment plans based on established protocols. The Dosimetrist III also administers quality control programs in conjunction with physicists and radiation therapists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a Physics-related field.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) upon hire.
  • 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Ability to evaluate treatment plans for clinical value and acceptability.
  • Ability to coordinate essential activities in workflow for radiation therapy treatments.
  • Ability to follow instruction and documented procedures in performing tasks on computer workstations accurately, safely, and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans.
  • Ability to communicate technical aspects to radiation oncologists and radiation therapists.
  • Ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • Mathematical skills including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Ability to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Generate image-based computerized treatment plans based on protocols and methods established by radiation oncologists and medical physicists.
  • Administer quality control programs in conjunction with the physicist and radiation therapists in the department.
  • Evaluate treatment plans for clinical value and acceptability in clinical situations.
  • Coordinate essential activities in the workflow for radiation therapy treatments.
  • Perform tasks on computer workstations in an accurate, safe, and efficient manner following documented procedures.
  • Understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans.
  • Communicate treatment plan aspects to the radiation oncologist for approval and to the radiation therapist for implementation.
  • Interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
