About The Position

This position operates assigned looms to weave yarn into cloth by walking around their area and monitoring the looms. The candidate will perform quality checks hourly and record results in the Porini System using QC codes found on the front of each loom. They will monitor looms and make repairs by following defined weaver’s cycle. Using a weaver's knot, they will tie a piece of yarn to the broken end and thread yarn through drop wires, heddles eyes, and reed dents to repair warp breaks, using a reed hook. The candidate will examine looms to determine the cause of loom stoppage, such as warp, filling, harness breaks, or mechanical defects by observing lights on loom. Other duties assigned by management will be performed, and all safety rules will be followed to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.

Requirements

  • Operates assigned looms to weave yarn into cloth by walking around their area and monitoring the looms.
  • Performs quality checks hourly and records results in the Porini System using QC codes found on the front of each loom.
  • Monitors looms and makes repairs by following defined weaver’s cycle (back – front – back – front – back – front……).
  • Using a weaver's knot, ties a piece of yarn to the broken end and threads yarn through drop wires, heddles eyes, and reed dents to repair warp breaks, using reed hook.
  • Examines looms to determine cause of loom stoppage, such as warp, filling, harness breaks, or mechanical defects by observing lights on loom.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Regularly required to talk, walk at a brisk pace, stand for extended periods of time, and hear.
  • Required to reach out and overhead with hands and arms, bend, lean, stoop, kneel, step up/down steps frequently.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required: color vision, close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
