About The Position

The Doorperson is responsible for controlling the traffic flow at the front desk and serving residents of an apartment building by performing various duties. This role requires adherence to company policies, Fair Housing laws, and other relevant regulations. The Doorperson will monitor visitors and residents, maintain accurate logs, ensure building security, document incidents, and respond to emergencies. The position also involves assisting in elevator emergencies and monitoring the fire panel. Additional duties may be assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Must pass employment and background check screening.
  • Must be able to take verbal or written direction & work well without supervision.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents and other employees of the organization.
  • Standing, Unilateral and Bilateral Movement, Walking, Reaching, Grasping/Turning, Bending/Stooping/Squatting, Climbing Stairs, Pushing or Pulling, Writing/Typing, Finger Dexterity, Lifting/Carrying, Talking.
  • Sit, Talk, Hear (Constant need - 100% of the time)
  • Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (Frequent need - 66% to 100% of the time).
  • Lifting/carrying/moving objects 1 - 25 lbs (Occasional need - 1% to 33% of the time).
  • Observe areas needing attention/correction. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, respond to written instructions from staff (Constant need - 100% of the time).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all business in accordance with Company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, HUD regulations and local ordinances pertaining to apartments.
  • Attend periodic Fair Housing seminars.
  • Monitor the incoming and outgoing visitors and residents.
  • Keep accurate and adequate logs per the policy and procedure.
  • Monitor the building to ensure no visitor is roaming the building.
  • Document all incidents in writing on the Incident Report Sheet and notify the manager of any illegal or suspicious activity.
  • If a situation warrants, contact the appropriate emergency services by dialing 911.
  • Assist in the event the elevator breaks down to calm individuals affected and report to emergency services.
  • Remain in view of fire panel & monitor panel.
  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the Manager.
