About The Position

Operation New Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals returning from incarceration and those affected by the justice system. We provide job training, placement, and comprehensive support services to facilitate successful transitions back into the community. Our mission is to motivate clients to become productive citizens, prevent recidivism, reduce incarceration costs, and improve public safety. The Door Attendant serves as the first point of contact, setting a welcoming tone and providing security and high-level customer service to clients, visitors, and staff. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for operations on campus.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 4 years of Door Attendant, Basic Office Security, or High Traffic Customer Service experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of building security procedures and safety protocols.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service and Active Listening skills. Personable, attentive, and adept at handling a diverse range of situations with poise and professionalism.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Upholds the highest ethical standards; is trustworthy and reliable.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to clear a Level I Background check through the Department of Corrections.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Training or certification in verbal de-escalation is preferred.
  • Experience working with marginalized or underserved populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all visitors and clients entering the building with a positive, welcoming, and helpful demeanor.
  • Direct entry traffic in the main entrance lobby, ensuring it remains accessible and free from overcrowding.
  • Monitor the front entry (inside & outside) and security cameras throughout the property for suspicious activity, reporting and responding to concerns and disturbances immediately.
  • Enforce staff and visitor policies, ensuring all safety protocols are followed for non-employees entering the building.
  • Maintain a clean main entrance lobby, manage incoming deliveries, keep logs, and coordinate with other staff.
  • Monitor the client waiting lobby throughout the day.
  • Provide visitors with information about Operation New Hope and its programs.
  • Support the Intake team by providing visitors with applications for enrollment.
  • Assist the Intake team with administering client drug testing as needed.
  • Connect clients to community resources to aid in their re-integration after incarceration.
  • Communicate with staff regarding any changes that could impact their or the Door Attendant’s daily routine (e.g., Job Fairs, Meetings, Visitors, Vendors/Partners).
  • Perform other duties as needed.
