About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary part-time Donor Centre Nurse to join their dynamic Collections Operations West team in AB-Calgary-Penn West. The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services in collecting donor blood safely to enable safe products that save lives every day. In this role, you will assist in the collection of blood and blood products, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and completion of all required documentation. You will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations.

Requirements

Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is considered an asset.
Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset.
A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

Responsibilities

Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.
Provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation.
Provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed.
Assist in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components.
Assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment at mobile events to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use.
