About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Donor Centre Manager to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team. The Collections Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of a designated donor centre(s) and events, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. You will focus on delivering exceptional donor experience, meeting operational and financial targets, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team. You will also provide leadership and direction in the delivery of day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning and alignment with organization objectives.

Requirements

  • Completion of a university degree in a relevant health care or business-related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in related supervisory/management/leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in customer service and operational management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and team building skills.
  • Proven analytical and decision making skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to attend regional and national meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of donor centre operations including ensuring regulatory compliance, efficient workflows, managing staff, productivity, quality and safety while continuously seeking improvements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment to meet collection goals.
  • Manage staff, including recruiting, mentoring, and development.
  • Handle budget planning and oversight.
  • Collaborate with other teams on scheduling for maximum efficiency.
  • Improve the donation experience to build donor loyalty by tracking key metrics (donation time, satisfaction, feedback, deferrals) and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure timely donor communication and foster a culture of excellent donor care.
  • Create a positive and inclusive work environment that fosters open communication, respect, and teamwork.
  • Motivate and support staff development.
  • Communicate regularly with teams and leadership.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports.
  • Collaborate with other managers to develop annual collection plans.
  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to promote and implement a continuous quality improvement cycle.
  • Oversee non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and participation in audits, including development of improvement plans and communication with the team.
