About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a regular, full-time Donor Centre Manager to join our new Donor Centre scheduled to open in the Danforth area of Toronto. The Donor Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of their designated donor centre ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. This role focuses on delivering exceptional donor experience, meeting operational and financial targets, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team. This role provides leadership and direction in the delivery of day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning and alignment with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Completion of a university degree in a relevant health care or business-related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in related supervisory/management/leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in customer service and operational management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and team building skills.
  • Proven analytical and decision making skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and variance analysis.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of donor centre(s) operations including but not limited to ensuring regulatory compliance, efficient workflows, managing staff, productivity, quality and safety while continuously seeking improvements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment to meet collection goals, manage staff (recruiting, mentoring, and development), handle budget planning and oversight, and collaborate with other teams on scheduling for maximum efficiency.
  • Improve the donation experience to build donor loyalty. This involves tracking key metrics (donation time, satisfaction, feedback, deferrals) and implementing improvements, ensuring timely donor communication, and fostering a culture of excellent donor care.
  • Create a positive and inclusive work environment that fosters open communication, respect, and teamwork. Motivate and support staff development, communicate regularly with teams and leadership, coach and mentor direct reports, and collaborate with other managers to develop annual collection plans.
  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to promote and implement a continuous quality improvement cycle. This includes overseeing non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and participation in audits, including development of improvement plans and communication with the team.
