About The Position

Goodwill is hiring a part-time Donation Material Handler in Gastonia. The role supports Goodwill’s mission of creating job opportunities, empowering communities, and changing lives by assisting donors and processing donated merchandise. The position starts at $15 per hour, with annual raises and bonuses. Free training and career development and team member discounts are offered. Medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement benefits are available to full-time team members only. The work takes place indoors and outdoors, with exposure to the elements. It is physically active and involves standing, walking, handling merchandise, and lifting heavy items.

Requirements

No experience required; training is provided.
Be friendly, dependable, trustworthy, and able to work as part of a team.
Follow safety procedures and perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and moving merchandise.
Be open to feedback and eager to grow through skill-building opportunities.
Be able to stand, walk, and use hands frequently; talk, reach, bend, kneel, push, and pull often; and occasionally climb or balance.
Be able to lift heavy items weighing up to 100+ pounds.
Have strong distance and depth vision.

Responsibilities

Greet donors, assist with unloading donations, and provide receipts.
Sort, inspect, and price merchandise according to safety and quality guidelines.
Move items to the sales floor and keep work areas clean and organized.
Load and unload donation trailers and perform custodial tasks throughout the shift.
Accurately track donation counts.
Help maintain store cleanliness, including retrieving carts.
Report safety, theft, or security concerns to management.
Support the team with additional duties as needed.
