About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, Inc.’s mission is to transform lives through lifelong learning and meaningful work. The Donation Attendant will greet and meet donors warmly, accept their donated goods, and communicate pleasantly with them. They will distinguish unsaleable items and graciously decline them as appropriate, thank customers for their donated goods, and offer a tax receipt. This role requires keeping accurate and timely records of all donations and maintaining the donation center in a safe, organized, and clean manner at all times. The job may require working outside for short periods, and it is essential to maintain a positive and grateful attitude regardless of weather conditions. The Donation Attendant will sort and pack donations between donors, assist with lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds, and open and close the donation center on time. They must be responsible and safe in their work environment, following CARF and OSHA guidance.

Requirements

  • High school or GED preferred.
  • Basic judgment skills to determine merchandise/donation value.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to establish pleasant connections with customers and co-workers.
  • Basic math skills and understanding of cash control procedures.
  • Supports the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, Inc.
  • Open availability.
  • Ability to transfer to other working locations, as directed by management.
  • Promotes and demonstrates ethical practices in all activities.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and follows all CARF requirements.
  • Ability to pass alcohol/drug screenings and criminal background check.
  • Works in an environment with occasional high stress, with potentially short deadlines.
  • Stands and walks for most of the workday, occasionally sits.
  • Routinely bends, stoops, pulls, pushes, reaches, kneels, twists, turns throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds in retail environment; 50 pounds in Donations/ADC/ Aftermarket environment, or the ability to do so safely.
  • Minimal travel required. May travel to other locations to assist with sales duties or training. Some travel for meetings and/or trainings may be required.
