About The Position

The Donation Logistics Specialist supports donation acquisition operations by transporting mobile donation trailers, completing box truck pickups and drop-offs, and providing onsite assistance at any Rochester Attended Donation Center (ADC) location when not assigned to driving duties. This role ensures mobile and fixed donation sites remain operational, well supplied, and ready to serve donors, directly contributing to donation growth and mission support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience in warehouse, logistics, donation processing, or retail operations.
  • Experience working directly with customers, donors, or the public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages when completing mileage logs, fuel tracking, load counts, and basic operational reporting.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to weight limits, load distribution, and safe trailer/box truck operation.
  • Must have a valid Class A driver’s license and pass a LENS certification with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to safely operate a truck and trailer, including backing, maneuvering, and towing.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and comply with all Goodwill and DOT driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or certification in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • DOT‑related safety training or completion of a defensive driving program is a plus.
  • 1–2 years of experience in driving box trucks, towing trailers, or performing transportation related duties.
  • Prior experience operating mobile donation trailers, cargo vans, or similar equipment.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment with frequent lifting, loading, and unloading.
  • Familiarity with basic technology platforms such as route tracking tools, CRM systems, or mobile communication apps.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, thrift, or mission driven organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drop off mobile donation trailers at scheduled locations and pick them up at the end of their deployment period.
  • Ensure trailers are placed safely, securely, and in compliance with site requirements.
  • Inspect trailers for cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness before and after use.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns as soon as they occur, no later than the end of the current shift.
  • Complete box truck pickups and drop-offs for all donation acquisition initiatives, including community drives, special events, and high-volume locations.
  • Load and unload donated goods safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, and materials needed to support donation operations.
  • Maintain accurate logs for routes, mileage, and completed assignments.
  • Work in any Rochester ADC location when driving assignments are not scheduled.
  • Assist with donation acceptance, customer service, and donor engagement.
  • Support book processing, workspace organization, and downtime task completion.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas consistent with ADC standards.
  • Reinforce donation guidelines and provide consistent donor experience across all sites.
  • Ensure mobile and fixed donation sites have necessary supplies such as bins, carts, and signage.
  • Communicate site conditions, donation volume, and operational issues to management.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for donation acquisition events.
  • Be familiar with the Donation Acquisition CRM platform and other required technologies to ensure accurate data entry, proper documentation, and clear communication across the team.
  • Coordinate daily priorities and route adjustments with the Donation Acquisition Manager.
  • Operate all vehicles in accordance with organizational safety standards and DOT regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trailers and box trucks.
  • Follow proper lifting, loading, and unloading procedures.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws.
  • Collaborate with ADC staff, transportation teams, and leadership to support donation growth.
  • Represent Goodwill’s mission and values in all donor and community interactions.
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
