About The Position

This critical role is responsible for driving donation growth through the development of new partnerships and expanded channels, with the objective of increasing revenue. This role leads efforts to establish attended and unattended donation sites, cultivate corporate and community partnerships, and expand donation drives and special collection initiatives. The position serves as a key ambassador for Goodwill within the community and works collaboratively with retail operations, transportation, marketing, and mission services to support organizational revenue and sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree required.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in business development, community engagement, operations, or related field, required.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into action.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (i.e., Excel)
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts market analyses and territory assessments to determine high-potential donation areas.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and secures new attended and unattended donation site opportunities.
  • Develops partnerships with property owners, retailers, shopping centers, municipalities, schools, churches, and businesses for donation site placement.
  • Negotiates site agreements, leases, or partnership arrangements in coordination with leadership.
  • Monitors performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Utilizes the Donation Acquisition Strategic Plans to increase donation volume, donor retention, and geographic market penetration.
  • Initiates and develops relationships within the community.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with corporations, civic organizations, schools, universities, municipalities, chambers of commerce, and nonprofit partners.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing partnerships that expand donation channels.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for external partners and stakeholders.
  • Initiates and maintains regular business development contact through phone calls, email campaigns, networking events, presentations, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Secures corporate donations including overstock, returned goods, reverse logistics opportunities and community donation drives.
  • Coordinates community collection events and donation campaigns that increase public awareness and donor participation.
  • Represents Goodwill at community functions, business associations, trade organizations, and networking events to promote donation opportunities and strengthen community presence.
  • Plans and executes donation drives, community events, and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborates with marketing to promote donation campaigns and increase public awareness.
  • Represents the organization at community functions, networking events, and speaking engagements.
  • Evaluates event effectiveness and refine future efforts.
  • Collaborates with retail, logistics, and mission services to align donation efforts with organizational needs.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinates logistics for special donation drives and large-scale collection events.
  • Assists in resolving donor concerns and maintaining positive donor experiences.
  • Tracks key performance indicators including pounds collected, donor counts, revenue contribution, and partnership growth.
  • Provides regular updates and recommendations to leadership.
  • Prepares reports detailing outreach activities, prospect status, partnership development, and donation acquisition progress.
