About The Position

The Donation Acquisition Manager is responsible for staffing all open positions at the Attended Donation Centers (ADC) with quality and productive employees. This role involves providing clear job responsibilities and expectations, ensuring new employees are properly oriented and trained, and evaluating team member efficiency through performance standards and regular appraisals. The manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of ADCs, including the handling of incoming donations and managing the supply and demand cycle of donated goods. Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing team activities, scheduling employees to control payroll costs and ensure adequate coverage and customer service, and ensuring staff are skilled in dealing with donors. This role also focuses on managing and improving donation acquisition through non-traditional channels, networking, relationship management, and implementing new revenue-generating ideas. Additionally, the manager will oversee loss control, manage donation events, and handle interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and training staff to ensure proper staffing levels. The position requires advising subordinates, peers, and superiors on work requirements and personnel issues, preparing and approving related paperwork, attending management meetings, and acting as a positive role model. The manager ensures stores open on time and are operational, participates in community and business organizations, and provides necessary tools, training, materials, and motivation for increased efficiency. Adherence to all company policies, procedures, programs, and OSHA and CARF requirements is mandatory. The role requires effective communication skills, the ability to analyze business information, speak effectively before groups, write reports and correspondence, and respond to complex inquiries.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, and 3 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc.
  • Driver's License
  • Intermediate: 10-Key, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Human Resources Systems, Payroll Systems, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
  • Basic: Accounting, Contact Management, Presentation/PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Staffs all open positions at the ADC's with quality and productive employees.
  • Provides every employee with clear job responsibilities and expectations.
  • Ensures all new employees are oriented and trained on all required work processes, procedures and expected standards of performance.
  • Evaluates the efficiency and productivity of assigned team members by establishing performance standards and objectives and conducts regular performance appraisals.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of Attended Donation Centers.
  • Understands the supply and demand cycle of donated goods.
  • Oversees the proper handling of incoming donations.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of team members.
  • Schedules employees with a focus on controlling payroll costs and adequate coverage and customer service.
  • Ensures employees are sufficiently skilled to deal effectively with donors.
  • Manages, maintains, and improves donation acquisition/drive activities through non-traditional channels by networking, relationship management, and implementing new ideas to generate revenue.
  • Manages store's loss control by monitoring customers and employees and reporting suspicious activity to Loss Prevention.
  • Ensures that items are not given away without authorization.
  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in donation events.
  • Interviews, hires, disciplines, and trains assigned department staff.
  • Ensures proper staffing levels for all ADC locations.
  • Advises and counsels subordinates, peers, and superiors on matters relating to work requirements and personnel problems in assigned departments.
  • Prepares or approves all paperwork, to include but is not limited to timecards, time off requests, and performance evaluations.
  • Attends regular management meetings and relates information back to staff.
  • Acts as a positive role model for employees, trainees and customers in all respects of professional development.
  • Ensures that the store opens on time and is properly staffed and operational during designated hours of operation.
  • Participates in local community, civic, and business organizations and is active in the local Chamber of Commerce.
  • Supplies necessary tools, training, materials, and motivation for increased efficiency in all departments.
  • Follows, implements, and ensures adherence to all Goodwill policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Complies with all OSHA and CARF requirements.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
