About The Position

Crisis Services is seeking a Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Case Manager to join our Advocate Department’s Case Management and Prevention Team. This role is ideal for professionals with degrees in public health, human services, social work, or education who are passionate about supporting our mission. The position is co-located at the Erie County Sheriff's Office. Crisis Services is a 24-hour comprehensive crisis center dedicated to providing intervention, education, prevention, and community collaboration to support individuals in need, restore safety, and promote emotional strength. The Advocate Department is Erie County's Rape Crisis Center and a licensed Non-Residential Domestic Violence Service Provider. This department offers comprehensive victim services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence, and/or elder abuse. The Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Case Manager will provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and follow-up services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, with a specific focus on the Erie County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. The goal is to reduce trauma, promote offender accountability, and facilitate healing. The role involves providing personal and criminal justice advocacy and accompaniment for survivors, assisting with linkages between law enforcement, the district attorney's office, and other community-based agencies. Support may also be provided during presentations at Erie County emergency departments, police precincts, and court proceedings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college and/or university in human services, public health, social work or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 6 months’ relevant work experience preferably providing direct services in domestic/family violence response and/or prevention work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and effects, public awareness and crisis intervention services.
  • Clear and calm judgment centered on survivors and ability to maintain ethical boundaries with clients.
  • Skilled in strategic and diplomatic collaboration.
  • Knowledge of practices and principles of empowerment.
  • A high degree of compassion, discretion and understanding for clients.
  • Ability to work independently, in an organized fashion, maintaining attention to detail and accurate records.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish priorities in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to reliable automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and follow-up services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Focus on survivors within the Erie County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction.
  • Provide personal and criminal justice advocacy and accompaniment for survivors.
  • Assist with linkages between law enforcement, the district attorney's office, and other community-based agencies.
  • Provide support during presentations at Erie County emergency departments, police precincts, and court proceedings.
  • Respond to local county emergency rooms to provide crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, family violence, and/or elder abuse when on-call.
  • Provide support to volunteers on-call for the Hospital Response Program when on-call.
