About The Position

Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) to support the Air Force's New Parent Support Program in Osan, South Korea. This role provides non-clinical emergent and urgent support to Air Force personnel, their families, or intimate partners who are victims of domestic abuse. The DAVA is an essential resource for victims, offering private and confidential services to encourage them to seek assistance. The position promotes the Air Force’s coordinated community response to domestic abuse allegations by providing support and education services during duty hours and on-call emergency services after duty hours. The DAVA does not provide clinical intervention services. A 40-hour work week is required, with flexibility for on-call services and "ad-hoc" telework for after-hours assistance that does not require in-person support. The DAVA's schedule must remain flexible and vary according to victim needs, potentially occurring outside normal duty hours.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required based on contract requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Social Work; Psychology; Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling; Counseling or Behavioral Science; Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Upon hire, or within six-months of hiring, must obtain the Basic Advocate credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist as approved and offered by the National Advocate Credentialing Program.
  • Two years of experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of DA or sexual assault.
  • Willingness to comply with government vaccination requirements, reflected of CDC guidelines, for diseases including Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, influenza, and proof of a negative TB skin test.
  • Requires personnel to receive the annual influenza vaccination.

Responsibilities

  • Offers follow-up DAVA services to each victim, empowering them to advocate for their needs and those of their children.
  • Supports the victim in decision-making by exploring options.
  • Assists the victim with prioritizing actions and establishing short/long-term goals.
  • Provides information and referral on military and civilian resources.
  • Establishes a Victim’s Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis, partnering with the FATM and FAIS or mental health on-call provider if the treatment or case manager is unavailable.
  • Advises victims of the impact of domestic violence on children and supports victim’s efforts to have children assessed and treated, as needed.
  • Accompanies the victim to appointments or court proceedings when requested by the victim.
  • Collaborates with treatment/case manager to support the victim and promote safety for the victim and children in the home.
  • Briefs the treatment/case manager prior to the CCS so that the CCS team has the most current information on the victim and children for staffing.
  • Develops a process to keep the team lead and designated POC informed of DAVA’s location and timelines when providing DAVA victim services, including location, arrival, and departure notification.
  • Continually evaluates the quality of the installation’s coordinated community response and collaborates with base agencies to improve the system response to victims.
  • Empowers victims to be involved in plans or decisions about the safety of self and children.
  • Collaborates and establishes protocols with Security Forces Squadron (SFS) and Office of Investigations (OSI) confirming 24-hour notification of the DAVA in all incidents of suspected DA and collaboration on safety planning.
  • Collaborates and establishes protocols with the Military Treatment Facility confirming 24-hour notification of the DAVA in all incidents of suspected DA and training of Military Treatment Facility personnel on the DAVA role.
