About The Position

May Veterinary Northridge is seeking a Kennel Assistant for their doggy day camp program, Camp May. This role involves providing safe and enriching experiences for dogs while supporting hospital operations. The position requires hands-on care for a large number of dogs, including monitoring play, cleaning, feeding, administering medication, bathing, nail trimming, and exercising dogs. The role is physically active, involving outdoor play monitoring on a hill.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with animals is strongly preferred
  • Comfort and confidence around dogs of all sizes, with a solid understanding of animal behavior
  • Reliability and compassion for both pets and their owners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
  • Must be available 2–3 days per week, 7:00 am-5:30 pm, 7:00 am-12:00 pm, or 12:00 pm-5:30 pm
  • Every other weekend availability required

Responsibilities

  • Care for and play with a large number of dogs in group settings, monitoring play behavior to ensure safety and fun
  • Clean, disinfect, and sanitize kennels, play yards, animal rooms, and hospital areas
  • Feed and water boarding and hospitalized pets on schedule
  • Administer medications to boarding and hospitalized animals (as directed)
  • Safely control and restrain animals when needed
  • Bathe and trim nails for pets as requested by owners
  • Exercise dogs and monitor safe group play in our outdoor camp area
  • Transfer animals between facilities when needed
