About The Position

This role involves walking neighborhood dogs on recurring routes, handling yard let-outs and potty breaks, and providing in-home pet sitting for cats, including feeding, litter box maintenance, play, and administering medications. The position requires driving between visits within the service area and sending photo updates and visit reports to clients. The company offers paid continuing education in dog behavior.

Requirements

18+ years old
Genuine love for animals
Patient and respectful
Reliable, communicative, detail-oriented
Calm and confident with fearful, reactive, or excitable dogs
Happy outdoors in any weather
Can handle large or strong dogs (90+ lbs)
Able to stay on your feet for several miles a day
Reliable vehicle, valid license, clean driving record, current auto insurance
Smartphone with data
Able to pass a background check
Must live in or very near the service area (Essex, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, Lyme, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison, Deep River, Chester, East Lyme & Niantic)

Nice To Haves

Evenings, weekends, and overnights are optional
Days move around sometimes
Cancellations, a last minute walk, a route in the next town over. We need people who can roll with that inside their shift.

Responsibilities

Walk neighborhood dogs on recurring routes
Coach dogs into great leash manners
Cover let-outs, potty breaks, and vacation drop-ins
Care for cats at home, including feeding, litter, play, and medications
Send photo updates and visit reports that make clients' whole day
Drive between visits across our service area
Keep learning: we pay for your continuing education in dog behavior
