About The Position

The Dog Groomer is an integral position at Scenthound, providing grooming knowledge and grooming services to clients. The role involves grooming dogs to Scenthound standards, primarily puppy cuts consisting of an all-over cut at one length with a neat face. The groomer helps maintain a safe, sanitary, communicative, and team-oriented environment while supporting the Scenter’s schedule. The ideal candidate is a confident, motivated, compassionate dog lover who is knowledgeable, perceptive, patient, and adaptable. This role is offered as full-time or part-time work.

Requirements

At least one year of grooming experience or graduation from a grooming school.
Knowledge of dog breeds, care standards, and grooming tools.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and stamina to stand for long periods.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to work in a smoke-free environment.
Effective communication with team members and dog parents.
Problem-solving ability.
Attention to detail.
Time-management ability.
Ability to self-critique and hold oneself and others to high grooming standards.

Responsibilities

Groom dogs to Scenthound standards.
Perform puppy cuts: one length all over with a neat face.
Create an environment conducive to learning, open communication, and teamwork.
Identify when and where help is needed and provide assistance to keep the Scenter on schedule.
Ensure the safety of dogs and team members at all times.
Follow Scenthound sanitary and cleaning practices.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Scenter Manager.
