About The Position

Matrix Design Group, Inc. is seeking transitioning service members participating in the DOD SkillBridge Program for an internship opportunity. This role provides consulting support to the Government Consulting Services Center of Excellence (CoE), focusing on projects related to the Department of Defense or state/local governments. The internship is ideal for individuals passionate about public service, process improvement, and project management, offering a chance to develop study methodologies, conduct data analysis, write reports, and engage with clients. Opportunities are available in various centers of excellence, with preferred locations in Colorado Springs, CO; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; or San Antonio, TX, though remote locations may be considered.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the organization and structure of the U.S. Department of Defense, with a more detailed working knowledge of one or more of the military services.
  • Ability to gather input from stakeholders involved in all aspects of a project.
  • Ability to collect and organize information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to use statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other quantitative methods to analyze information and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to write memos, reports, and develop presentations explaining findings and recommendations.
  • Outstanding communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • Well versed in use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, to include Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and other facility offices.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, operations research, data science or related field of study.
  • Minimum of four years of work-related experience, preferably in the areas of engineering, public works, installation management, construction management, logistics, or base operating support.
  • Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of data visualization and automation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, and others) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research areas or issues and write formal and informal reports summarizing information or persuading readers to support objectives.
  • Support continuous process improvement and business process reengineering projects through process mapping, data collection, analysis, visualization, and development of digital solutions.
  • Support project execution by preparing reports, developing technical documents and presentations, and contributing to project deliverables.
  • Plan, organize, and lead virtual and in-person engagements with project stakeholders for visioning, brainstorming, and problem-solving.
  • Meet with clients and their representatives to present results, resolve issues, answer questions, and maintain good relations.
  • Assist with project management tasks including budgeting, scheduling, organizing teams, prioritizing projects, quality assurance, and invoicing.
  • Support proposal development by providing content for approach, schedule, or other sections as assigned.
