About The Position

Under the direction of the Sales and Engineering Manager, develops and maintains successful business relationships with assigned Department of Defense (DoD) customer accounts. Conducts or facilitates the activities supporting sales and customer service including requests for quote, purchase order processing, investigation and resolution of customer complaints. Coordinates customer services and orders with engineering, purchasing, accounting, production, quality and shipping.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related work experience; or equivalent combination.
  • Two years’ experience in manufacturing processes preferably metal fabrication, machining, and welding.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings and technical specifications

  • Strong knowledge of DOD and military vendors requirements and processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, plans and coordinates multiple related projects by managing timelines, resources and communications with customers, both internally and externally
  • Has strong understanding of customer specific terminology, specifically acronyms that are used particularly by DOD customers
  • Completes required documentation and uses customer specific websites to submit documentation
  • Coordinates quality requirements and shipping schedules with outsourced vendors.
  • Prepares for and facilitates customer quality audits and all customer quality requirements.
  • Performs all essential duties of a Customer Sales Representative
  • Confers with customers by phone, email, and on-site visits to become familiar with contacts and products.
  • Creates and maintains good working relationships to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Working with customers, evaluates satisfaction with TMS products and organizational efficiency, makes recommendations for improvement and participates in improvement process.
  • Receives and tracks requests for quotes.
  • Obtains and submits price quotes from TMS Engineering group and participates in project reviews.
  • Confirms prices and estimated delivery to customer.
  • Follows up on quotes to determine price competitiveness.
  • Edits, interprets, analyzes and enters new customer order data into ERP.
  • Confers with department supervisors as required to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from quality or engineering departments.
  • Verifies ship dates based on order backlog and other factors.
  • Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and production capacity.
  • Understands, negotiates, and plans for customer schedule and engineering changes including recovering the costs associated with change as necessary.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints regarding damaged or late shipments and assists in resolving rejected shipment.
  • Creates, edits, releases, cancels, closes or reopens shop orders for the manufactured components of the assigned customer's products.
