About The Position

This role involves processing time-sensitive documents for a large mailing operation. The Document Delivery Technician will operate intelligent mailing and shipping systems, including digital mail processors, shipping processors, X-ray screening systems, scales, letter openers, and cutters. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, dating, recording, and delivering incoming mail, as well as handling confidential and time-sensitive documents. The technician will also investigate suspicious mail, weigh and affix postage to outgoing mail, and manage expedited correspondence.

Requirements

  • 12 months of training or experience in operating intelligent, high-speed mail processing equipment (e.g., intelligent mailing system, inserter, burster, folder, ink jet labeler, letter opener & letter extractor) and material handling equipment (e.g., pallet stacker, pallet jack, EZ Go cart).
  • 3 months of training or experience in operation of personal computer.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in general U.S. postal regulations.
  • Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license to operate a state-owned vehicle, per classification specification.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Nice To Haves

  • If position requires operation of state vehicle to pick up &/or deliver documents, applicant must also possess valid Ohio Driver's License.
  • If position requires operation of motorized vehicle regulated under Chapter 4506 of Revised Code, applicant must also possess valid Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Process time-sensitive, inbound or outbound, essential documents for large mailing operation.
  • Operate one or more intelligent mailing &/or shipping systems in a large mailing operation, (i.e., digital computer-based mail processors, computer-based shipping processor & information management system, X-ray package screening system & other mail processing equipment, integrated digital scale, letter opener, cutter, scale).
  • Receive, sort, check, date, record, & deliver incoming U.S. mail (i.e., certified, registered, regular, misdirected, & returned mail), inter &/or intra agency correspondence, expedited correspondence.
  • Handle confidential, time sensitive, & essential documents (i.e., warrants, negotiable documents, remittance statement, cash, license suspensions, etc.).
  • Isolate & further investigate suspicious mail or parcels received.
  • Pick up, sort, weigh, & affix postage to outgoing mail & expedited correspondence.
