About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Technical Document and Configuration Control Specialist to support our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S Navy weapon systems. This position will support the Navy Program Manager responsible for Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at TRIDENT Submarine Bases, primarily at Kings Bay, Georgia and Bangor, Washington. This individual will play a key role in managing and providing oversight of the BAE Facilities SSP document repository at the Maritime Plaza office in Washington, DC. This individual will be responsible for developing procedures associated with protecting, controlling, distributing and organizing all items both historical and new in the SSP repository. The individual will catalog and maintain existing volumes and create digital versions of the documents. This position will be working on-site to support collection and maintenance activities for the SSP repository at Maritime Plaza in Washington, DC. The candidate will be required to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area related to document control, configuration management, or library service from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and professional experience working in a related business area with at least four years of experience with document administrative expertise within the last 2 years, or a HS and at least 6 years of related/relevant professional work experience.
  • Experience conducting library/repository document management activities, with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years
  • Demonstrated document control management and coordination skills
  • Maintain a safe, clean, warm and welcoming environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors, customers and vendors
  • Good planning, time management and organization skills

Nice To Haves

  • Intelligence Community experience preferred.
  • Experience creating and applying document control procedures
  • Experience creating and managing repository/library databases
  • Experience digitizing various media formats from more than 40 years ago
  • Experience managing document coordination and distribution policies for government entities

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain adequate procedures for protecting technical data stored at the repository
  • Establish and maintain adequate procedures for controlling the release or disclosure of technical data stored at the repository
  • Perform cataloging, metadata entry and management, reference services and expertise, digital resource organization and management, archival work and collection maintenance
  • Perform management of repository operations, cataloging, reference support, digital resource management, archival services, user education, and collection development
  • Refilling out-of-place items or routing them to the proper location
  • Monitoring and cataloging aerial photos
  • Manage and/or support other disciple tasks as needed
  • Work with and support corporate Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies
