As a Doctoral Committee Chair, you will inspire and engage learners by delivering quality instruction and support using relevant tools, resources, and materials. You will guide students through their doctoral research journey, ensuring high academic standards, integrity, and successful project completion. You will deliver timely and supportive mentoring to learners engaged in the doctoral project by providing substantive and constructive feedback and coordinating with committee members to ensure learner progress.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Psychology (required), from an institutionally or regionally accredited institution in Psychology (Clinical or Counseling Psychology preferred).
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (preferred).
  • Previous experience as a doctoral committee member and chair.
  • Demonstrated research contributions within the last ten years, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, program evaluation reports, or similar scholarly work.
  • Experience with online instruction and non-traditional (adult) learners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the committee in assisting learners with topic selection, literature review, proposal development, project approvals, oral defense, and manuscript completion.
  • Provide constructive and in-depth feedback on research methodologies, formatting, data collection, analysis, and IRB applications.
  • Proactively and consistently engage with learners to ensure they meet milestones, stay on pace, and complete their doctoral projects successfully.
  • Oversee compliance with IRB protocols and supervise data collection.
  • Address academic concerns, complaints, and student progress issues in collaboration with Academic Advisors and other faculty members.
  • Comply with and enforce university and program policies, procedures and protocols.
