An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset to an optometrist as they assist in providing a world class Total Patient Experience. This team member is able to handle a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist. The role embraces and executes our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support. It requires compliance with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA, and practicing urgency at all times placing value on a patient’s time, as well as the doctor’s time and schedule. The position involves operating manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT, and following scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.). It also includes cleaning all examination equipment including tonometer tip, interacting with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times, and performing general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager. The role consistently creates a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused, with a commitment to work hours that meet the needs of the business which may include weekends, schedule changes or an extended schedule.
