Doctor's Assistant/Department Coordinator for Emergency Department
About The Position
VCA Encina Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Doctor's Assistant with a passion for customer service and patient care to join their team. This is a crucial role in a busy, state-of-the-art animal hospital that functions as a general practice, multi-specialty, and emergency hospital, operating 24/7. The hospital offers a variety of specialties including Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Oncology, Surgery, and Emergency/Critical Care. They are equipped with an in-house lab, digital radiographs, ultrasound, CT scanner, in-house pharmacy, surgical suite, and ICU. The position is described as rewarding, exciting, and provides an excellent learning environment as a teaching hospital.
Requirements
- Animal experience
- Customer service experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years of current veterinary hospital experience (preferably in emergency or specialty veterinary medicine, though not a must)
- Any customer service experience is welcomed
Responsibilities
- Answering phones
- Making appointments
- Checking clients in and out
- Speaking with clients regarding their pets and family
- Creating and managing estimates for diagnostics and treatments
- Rooming clients and patients
- Obtaining temperature and weight of pets
- Acting as a liaison between doctor and client
- Accurately filling medications for patients
