About The Position

PITT OHIO is hiring a part-time Outbound Dockworker at its Eighty Four, Pennsylvania location. The role starts at 6 PM, Monday through Friday, and involves loading, unloading, sorting, and securing freight in accordance with DOT requirements. Dockworkers handle freight by hand and with material-handling equipment, complete job-related paperwork, and work safely and cooperatively. Starting pay is $25.74 per hour, with top rate of $28.89 after six months.

Requirements

Pass a non-DOT physical examination.
Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
Be able to read and write in English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
Consent to a ten-year work-history check; explain any gaps of 30 days or more and provide documentation if requested.

Responsibilities

Read, write, and communicate effectively in English with internal and external customers; perform simple mathematical calculations; handle receipts; read shipping labels; and follow loading instructions.
Load and unload freight on and off trucks by hand or using a hand truck or dolly, according to DOT requirements.
Sort and secure items on trucks or on the dock to prevent damage, following DOT requirements.
Handle a variety of materials, including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, and rugs.
Use common material-handling tools such as carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
Perform standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending, reaching, and lifting above and below waist level, including heavy lifting.
Work safely and professionally to reduce risks to oneself and fellow employees.
Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
Process daily paperwork associated with the job.
Be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner.
Perform other duties as directed or requested.
