The Dock Worker properly loads and unloads freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand; secures freight with straps, braces, and padding to prevent damage or shifting; and accurately records freight condition when it arrives at the service center. The role includes pre-shift and post-shift inspections of dock equipment, and regular attendance is required. This is not an all-inclusive list of duties; operational, safety, and other needs may require the employee to perform additional assigned tasks. The position involves frequent lifting and moving of at least 70 pounds, along with standing, walking, handling freight, and other physical activities. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles, and may encounter high or precarious places, hazardous materials, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels can range from quiet to loud.
