About The Position

The Dock Worker properly loads and unloads freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand; straps, braces, and pads freight to prevent damage or shifting; accurately records the condition of freight as it arrives at the service center; and performs pre-shift and post-shift inspections of dock equipment. Regular attendance is required. This is not an all-inclusive list of duties, and operational, safety, or other needs may require the employee to perform additional assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70 pounds.
• Able to lift approximately 70 pounds or more when required by the essential functions of the job.
• Able to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends, and be dependable.
• Able to comply with company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
• Able to interact well with others and work independently or as part of a team.
• Able to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
• Able to read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents, including safety rules, operations and procedure manuals, and maintenance instructions, with a high level of comprehension and concentration, and meet deadlines.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing, and will be subject to a criminal history background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must meet the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting and moving of at least 70 pounds, standing, walking, handling and reaching, lifting, twisting, turning, and potentially climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, balancing, talking, and hearing.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
