About The Position

Iron County is accepting applications for one (1) Full Time DMV Technician to work in the Cedar City Office. This role performs a variety of clerical duties to expedite the collection and receipting of county personal property tax related to motor vehicles. The technician provides in-person customer assistance to taxpayers regarding motor vehicle transaction services and processes a full range of documents related to registration, plating, titling, etc. of motor vehicles. The position frequently involves handling stressful and confrontational situations arising from displeased/angry taxpayers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical experience.
  • Ability to attend trainings offered by the Utah State Tax Commission and others pertaining to the function of the Motor Vehicle Administration System.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License.
  • Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to apply general rules and instruction to specific situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public under adverse and stressful conditions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to demonstrate an aptitude to understand and implement laws pertaining to Motor Vehicle Registration and collection of local taxes and fees.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive pre-employment background screening.
