About The Position

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a detail‑oriented and customer‑focused Special Registration Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing specialized license plate applications, managing plate and decal inventory, and reconciling related financial transactions. This role also investigates and resolves Highway Use Fee disputes while ensuring all actions comply with DMV policies and regulatory requirements. The technician coordinates workflow with team members, provides guidance on complex registration issues, and responds to customer inquiries and escalations. By maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service, the Special Registration Technician supports DMV’s mission of delivering reliable, customer‑focused operations and upholding statewide compliance standards. Requirements

Experience performing administrative, clerical, or customer‑service duties in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with computer systems, data entry, and record‑keeping.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and verify complex documentation.
Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, coworkers, and external partners.
Ability to analyze information, resolve discrepancies, and make sound decisions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with no less than 6 demerit points and no major convictions.

Nice To Haves
