About The Position

Ilisagvik College is rooted in the ancestral homeland of the Iñupiat. The DMV/DE Coordinator coordinates the daily operations of Iḷisaġvik College's Driver's Education Program while supporting the College's DMV Services. The Coordinator oversees student enrollment, scheduling, instructor coordination, behind-the-wheel logistics, road test coordination, regulatory compliance, and program documentation. The position also processes Alaska DMV licensing transactions and provides administrative and logistical support for Workforce Development programs and special projects.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
  • Associate degree or three years of related administrative/program coordination experience.
  • Understanding (or ability to gain understanding) of Alaska DMV processes, policies, and regulations, including REAL ID requirements, license classifications, testing procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in Driver's Education, DMV operations, Workforce Development, or program coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all Driver's Education classes, from planning through completion.
  • Complete student enrollment, registrations, waitlists, learner permit verification, and required documentation for Driver’s Education classes.
  • Coordinate classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel schedules, instructor assignments, and student driving schedules.
  • Coordinate DMV written knowledge tests and road test appointments.
  • Coordinate Driver's Education vehicles and program logistics.
  • Coordinate village-based Driver's Education travel, lodging, facilities, meals, and equipment.
  • Maintain Driver's Education records, attendance, evaluations, grades, certificates, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department for Driver's Education marketing and outreach.
  • Process REAL IDs, driver's licenses, learner permits, identification cards, and other Alaska DMV transactions.
  • Verify documentation and ensure compliance with Alaska DMV Business Partner policies.
  • Maintain confidential DMV records and required reports.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Workforce Development programs.
  • Support recruitment, outreach, career fairs, and special projects.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
