About The Position

The Department of Mental Health is seeking a full-time Grant Program Administrator for its projects under Vermont's Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program. This multi-year, federally funded program aims to improve healthcare access, quality, and outcomes in rural communities through system transformation. The role involves providing professional oversight and management of funded projects, acting as a liaison with the Agency of Human Services RHT team, and coordinating agency activities to achieve RHT Program goals. A primary focus will be supporting the VT Consultation and Psychiatry Access Program (VTCPAP), which offers consultation, resources, and training to healthcare providers to address pediatric and perinatal mental health needs. The administrator will manage the day-to-day operations of the RHT project(s), ensuring alignment with federal requirements, timely completion of deliverables, and achievement of programmatic goals. Strong organizational, communication, and grant management skills, collaborative abilities, and knowledge of pediatric mental health are essential. Experience with federally funded programs, grant/contract administration, and tracking activities, budgets, and deadlines is highly desirable. The RHT program is funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with a total award of $195,053,740.44. This is a Limited Service position, authorized for a specific period, and is non-tenured.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mental Health or closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mental Health or closely related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development.
  • OR Four (4) years or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong grant management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholder groups.
  • Knowledge of pediatric mental health.
  • Ability to work with federally funded programs.
  • Experience with grant/contract administration.
  • Accurate tracking of activities, progress toward goals, budgets, and deadlines.

Responsibilities
