About The Position

The Divisional Training and Development Specialist is responsible for implementing and managing employee development programs that support career growth, technical skill advancement, and workforce excellence throughout the division. This role serves as a key resource for field employees and leadership by delivering structured training, evaluating employee competencies, and facilitating career pathway progression across all levels of the organization. The Field Training and Development Specialist works closely with Apprentices, Electricians, Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, Operations Managers, Division Leadership, and HR partners to identify training opportunities, establish development plans, and promote continuous improvement throughout the field workforce. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Division Leadership to support employee development, workforce readiness, and operational success.

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of electrical construction experience, including commercial and/or industrial projects preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license as required by job conditions or by the company.
  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
  • Read and interpret instructional manuals and written instructions.
  • Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
  • Ability to travel frequently between jobsites, offices, and training locations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry training materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, confined spaces, and active construction areas while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to assess employee skills, identify development opportunities, and make sound recommendations regarding training and career progression.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to develop, organize, and manage multiple training plans, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and adapt training approaches based on employee needs and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee performance, development plans, and personnel matters.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when interacting with employees and leadership.
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in dynamic and fast-paced construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and facilitate company career pathway training programs for field employees across assigned divisions and jobsites.
  • Conduct training sessions using established curriculum, training materials, and development resources.
  • Provide both classroom-style and jobsite-based instruction to reinforce technical skills, company standards, and career advancement expectations.
  • Participate in hands-on training activities when appropriate based on technical expertise and employee development needs.
  • Ensure employees understand performance expectations, career progression opportunities, and training objectives.
  • Meet individually with employees to assess current skill levels, identify development needs, and evaluate career growth opportunities.
  • Develop individualized training plans and timelines aligned with employee goals and project requirements.
  • Assign developmental activities, skill-building objectives, and measurable milestones.
  • Conduct ongoing follow-up sessions to monitor progress, provide coaching, and reinforce learning objectives.
  • Evaluate employee skill improvement and readiness for advancement through observation, assessments, and feedback from field leadership.
  • Partner with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, Operations Managers, and Division Leadership to support employee development initiatives.
  • Communicate training plans, expectations, and progress updates to field supervision.
  • Schedule follow-up reviews and developmental checkpoints to evaluate employee growth.
  • Prepare and present quarterly summaries regarding employee development, training effectiveness, and recommended next steps.
  • Collaborate with field leadership when modifying training plans or development strategies.
  • Assist HR partners with maintaining accurate training records, assessments, development plans, and progress reports.
  • Assist in identifying workforce skill gaps and recommending training solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to employee development, workforce readiness, and operational excellence.
  • Promote a culture of learning, accountability, safety, and professional growth throughout the organization.
