Requirements

  • CPA designation is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE)
  • Deep understanding of Canadian federal and Alberta tax regulations
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting operations and financial close processes
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining internal controls
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities

  • Experience in real estate, construction, or development industries
  • Exposure to complex corporate structures, including multiple legal entities and partnerships
  • Experience with business combinations, acquisitions or significant growth scenarios

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall financial leadership for the Corporate division, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting under ASPE
  • Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual stand-alone and consolidated financial statements and key deliverables
  • Managing timelines and ensuring timely reporting for all divisional reports
  • Oversee bank draws, and funding structures, ensuring alignment with financing agreements
  • Lead divisional budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insight into project and portfolio performance
  • Partner with operational leaders to support project decision-making, profitability analysis, and cash flow planning
  • Oversee project cash management strategies across the division
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial governance, and risk management practices
  • Review complex accounting areas: intercompany structures, cost allocations revenue recognition (where applicable)
  • Ensure compliance with financing agreements, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee audit processes and ensure timely and accurate responses
  • Review and approve tax filings (GST, corporate tax)
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, running and organizing team meetings
  • Drive performance, development, and succession planning within the team
  • Promote consistency, best practices, and continuous improvement across the division
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency and scalability
  • Support system enhancements and integration with operational processes
  • Prepare and present financial summaries, risk insights, and key metrics to executive leadership
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions
