About The Position

This position is responsible for administering the Division’s Compensation Program in consultation with the Divisional Human Resources Director, Divisional Personnel Secretary, and Territorial Compensation Director. It serves as the technical resource for the Division concerning compensation administration and maintenance, managing the day-to-day operations of the compensation program in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role also acts as a resource to management for hiring, reclassifying, or promoting employees by providing information on market pay practices and ensuring pay equity. Responsibilities include writing, researching, and evaluating job descriptions, ensuring the divisional compensation program remains up-to-date and aligns with Salvation Army policy and procedures, and ensuring daily administration complies with current employment law. Additionally, this position manages the divisional performance evaluation process, including tracking completion, employee/officer training, and assigning competencies, and is responsible for annual divisional EEOC, AAP, and OSHA compliance reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a closely related field AND Two years of human resources experience required, with two years of experience specifically in writing, evaluating, and analyzing job descriptions, compensation analysis, development, and administration.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Ability to perform both routine and complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to type and operate a personal computer.
  • Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Valid State Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the daily administration and maintenance of the Division’s Compensation Program.
  • Establishes a list of job classifications needed by the Division.
  • Researches and evaluates jobs to ensure same jobs are classified the same.
  • Ensures all jobs are properly classified and assigned an appropriate pay range.
  • Works closely with the Territorial Compensation Director to identify and correct how jobs are classified and to revise or create new job descriptions when needed.
  • Researches and writes job descriptions.
  • Conducts interviews with employees and/or management to learn job duties.
  • Submits new job descriptions for approval.
  • Applies the point-factor job evaluation tool to determine the recommended salary grade for all new or changing positions.
  • Works at the Divisional level to manage HR projects and assist staff in initiatives assigned by the Divisional Secretary for Personnel and the Divisional Human Resources Director.
  • Identifies, examines, and assesses the training needs, skills, or knowledge gaps within the Division.
