About The Position

This position is responsible for completing divisional accounting functions, performing computerized, double-entry tasks to support Divisional Headquarters accounting processes, such as posting, reviewing, balancing accounts, and preparing reports for assigned accounts. It involves preparing and maintaining financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of Salvation Army financial accounts. The role ensures transactions are processed accurately and timely in accordance with Salvation Army policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and FASB standards. It also maintains financial records, prepares reports, and supports budgeting, banking, and reconciliation activities, and provides backup support for accounts receivable/payable and regional accounting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business or related
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in computerized accounting, with exposure to double-entry fund accounting, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Completes divisional accounting functions, by performing computerized, double-entry tasks to support Divisional Headquarters accounting processes, such as posting, reviewing, balancing accounts, and preparing reports for assigned accounts
  • Prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of Salvation Army financial accounts ensuring transactions are processed accurately and timely in accordance with Salvation Army policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and FASB standards
  • Maintains financial records, prepares reports, and supports budgeting, banking, and reconciliation activities
  • Provides backup support for accounts receivable/payable and regional accounting functions
  • Administers divisional accounting functions, ensuring compliance with Salvation Army policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP
  • Manages full cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Prepares and posts journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Analyzes trial balances and ledger accounts, correcting discrepancies as needed
  • Prepares financial reports and statements for review by senior leadership
  • Assists in monthly and fiscal closing, ensuring all entries are accurate and reconciled
