About The Position

Corning is seeking a Division Lean Engineer – Modeling, Flow, & Efficiency to support critical manufacturing and operational initiatives through advanced industrial engineering, lean deployment, and simulation modeling. This role is ideal for a highly capable engineer with a strong traditional IE foundation, hands-on lean manufacturing experience, and the technical depth to build, code, and deploy simulation-based solutions aligned with corporate and divisional standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving manufacturing flow, warehouse operations, planning systems, and fiber delivery performance while supporting strategic development initiatives across the division. This position is also viewed as a strong pipeline role for broader engineering leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Research, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, operations improvement, or manufacturing systems engineering supporting lean transformation initiatives in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
  • Strong knowledge of process flow analysis, capacity planning, material flow, warehouse and logistics operations, and production planning and scheduling.
  • Experience developing and implementing simulation models for manufacturing, logistics, or operational systems leveraging tools such as FlexSim, AnyLogic, Arena, or Simio, and optimization, or operations research tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, Minitab, or JMP.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, and other Data Analysis tools including modeling, Power Query, and VBA, as well as Power BI or similar visualization tools.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Manufacturing Black Belt certification or equivalent advanced Lean and Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience supporting strategic engineering programs or enterprise-wide improvement initiatives in a large-scale manufacturing environment with complex operations and cross-functional supply chain dependencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support lean manufacturing initiatives, and apply traditional industrial engineering principles to improve manufacturing flow, labor efficiency, capacity utilization, and overall operational performance using methods consistent with Lean Manufacturing Black Belt expectations.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy simulation models with the ability to code, customize, and automate solutions beyond standard simulation software use to support decision-making for critical operational and strategic initiatives, and ensure modeling and analysis approaches align with corporate and divisional engineering standards.
  • Support high-impact initiatives across manufacturing flow optimization, warehouse operations, fiber delivery and production planning, capacity and throughput analysis, and strategic network and operational development.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, and cross-functional improvement sessions with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Translate complex operational challenges into practical engineering solutions that can be deployed across multiple sites or business functions.
  • Contribute to current and future strategic projects, including initiatives and other division-critical programs.
