About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions. · Establish and document accounting policies and procedures. · Maintain chart of accounts. · Maintain and update system of accounting controls. · Pro-actively communicate to senior management possible financial exposures and risks. · Lead operations and development of two or more accounting departments, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, policies and procedures. · Automate manual processes to improve efficiency and improve accuracy. · Evaluate and prioritize capital expenditure requests using NPV analysis. · Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and prior year. · Oversee daily operations of finance department(s). · Review account reconciliations and monthly accrual calculations. · Manage timely monthly financial reporting to corporation and ensure GAAP compliance. · Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts. · Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions. · Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Serve on planning and policy-making committees. · Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues. · Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements. · Maintain effective working relationships with company’s external partners. · Review, analyze and interpret variances from the budget and communicate issues to management. · Issue timely, complete, and accurate monthly financial statements. · Review published financial and operating metrics. · Provide ad-hoc financial analyses with recommendations to the management team. · Provide written monthly analysis of financial results. · Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. · Other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff. · Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff. · Responsible for all payroll, sales tax and DOT reports. · Ensure all company owned vehicles are properly licensed and insured. DECISION MAKING: Position will be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Position requires collaboration with department managers, division heads and current/potential customers.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university (CPA preferred).
  • Five to seven years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of a manufacturing or heavy equipment industry organization.
  • Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems/enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills focused on business improvement.
  • Demonstrated history of process improvement, critical thinking and financial analysis.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work activities and meet deadlines.
